Welcome to the "Merry-Hill Match Play" Event Portal

Thank you for your interest in participating in this year's Merry-Hill Match Play. The entry fee is $10 (not including green fees) which can be submitted to the golf shop at Merry-Hill, if you have not already submitted your payment, please do so as soon as possible.

All event information will be posted to this website throughout the competition.

Handicaps will be determined after the third week of league play and will be updated throughout to ensure a fair and fun competition. The Sunday of every 2nd week will be the deadline for completing your match with the first round of matches to be completed by July 5. The seeding for round 1 will be random and each competitor will be given their Playing Handicap before the start of each match along with their opponent.

We received 22 entries for this year's tournament. As this number does not fit a typical 32 or 16-player bracket, the committee has agreed to the following format:

  • The first round will consist of 11 random matches using updated league Handicap Indexes
  • The matches will be scored based on points, not just holes won versus holes lost. Points will be awarded as follows:
    • 10 points for winning a match
    • 5 points for a tied match
    • 0 points for losing a match
    • 2 points for each hole won
    • 1 point for each tied hole
  • Following the 1st round, all winners will move on the round of 16, plus the next players with the highest point totals from the 1st round until we have reached 16 total players. A tie for the last qualifying spot will be determined by the lowest league score (9 holes) on the following Monday. If one player is absent from that Monday evening, their spot will be forfeited. If a tie still exists, they will be broken, relative to par, by using the net scores on the #1 Handicap hole, then the #2 Handicap Hole and so on (from the league round).
  • Once the top 16 are determined, the second round matches will be determined by round 1 points, with ties being determined by lot and that will form the bracket for the rest of the competition.
  • Ties in the 16-player bracket will be settled, relative to par, by using the combined net scores on the two #1 Handicap holes, then the #2 Handicap holes and so on until a winner is determined.
  • There will be a consolation match to determine 3rd and 4th place
  • Prizes will be awarded to the top three

If any questions on the Rules of Golf occur during your match, please call Adam LeBrun at 416-886-4819.

Have a smartphone? Download the Golf Genius app for iPhone, iPad and Android for live scoring and leaderboards! With current COVID-19 restrictions in place, it would be great if all participants used the Golf Genius app to post their scores instead of using paper scorecards.

Thank you and good luck to all.
