10th Net: 200 pts |
In 2025, Amateur players will continue to earn Order of Merit points within the handicap flight they play within for each event.
The one small difference this year is how we will determine year-end prizing. This year, rather than prizing be based on points per handicap division, a player’s points will accumulate into one OVERALL ORDER OF MERIT standings. The player’s BEST 8 results by points will determine their Order of Merit points standing versus all members regardless of handicap flight.
The TOP 30 VGT Members in the OVERALL ORDER OF MERIT standings for the 2025 season will win some fabulous prizing!!
Reasoning for going this route: With a number of members bouncing between handicap divisions the last few years, we have determined this is the fairest system to determine the Order of Merit year-end prizing. Those players who bounced back and forth between handicap divisions had no chance of winning their division (or even prizing out).
In summary, in 2025, a player will accumulate all of their order of merit points for one Overall Amateur Order of Merit Standings, no matter if the player bounces from one handicap division to another.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR TITLES - BY DIVISION
We will continue to track OOM points within the four traditional handicap divisions so we can declare a PLAYER OF THE YEAR within each handicap division.
Handicap Divisions will be broken down as we have in the past:
Championship Division: 5.0 index & under.
Division One: 5.1 to 9.0
Division Two: 9.1 to 14.0
Division Three: 14.1 to 26.0
If a player bounces between handicap divisions throughout the year, they will earn ALL of their OOM points, regardless of which division they played in for an event. Their points will accumulate for prizing purposes within the “master” Order of Merit standings. And their points will be allocated to the handicap division that they played most often in the season in order to determine the Player of the Year Champion in each division.
For Example:
Player A plays in Division 1 a total of 5 events. Earns 7,000 points total.
Player A plays in Division 2 a total of 3 events. Earns 4,000 points total
Player A’s total points = 11,000 allocated to Division 1 for Player of the Year purposes.
PROGRESSIVE HOLE-IN-ONE JACKPOT RULES
- In order to qualify for the Hole-in-one (H.I.O) JACKPOT offered at a VGT event, a player must be entered into the $20 skins game/hole-in-one pot for that event. If there is no winner of the hole-in-one at VGT event, the current hole-in-one pot will carry over to the next event until we have a winner of the jackpot. If by the end of the Winter Tour the jackpot has not been won, the current jackpot will be carried over into the Summer Tour schedule.
- If the jackpot accumulates to $5,000, it will be cut-off at $5,000 and the first eligible person (see above) to score a hole-in-one on an eligible jackpot hole will receive the $5,000 payout. A secondary Hole-in-one purse will be started as soon as the original jackpot reaches $5,000. From the time the original purse reaches $5,000, moneys collected for the H.I.O purse will accumulate in this secondary pot while the first pot remains at $5,000. The secondary pot will continue to grow until the next eligible player scores a hole-in-one on the designated jackpot hole at a VGT event. The maximum H.I.O purse paid out at any time will be $5,000, and once the pot has reached $5,000, a 3rd and 4th purse (and so on) will be established for future winners.
- Due to the skill difference of Pros versus the Amateurs in the field, we level the playing field for the JACKPOT two ways:
- By allowing the Division 1,2 and 3 amateurs to tee-off a shorter designated tee-box at various times compared to Professionals and Championship Amateurs.
- VGT hosts numerous Amateur only events where Amateurs have a chance to win the JACKPOT without Pros in the field.
