2025 TOURNAMENT CRITERIA 

We are excited to announce the criteria for the 4th Annual GolfBC Group BC Women’s Open, set to be staged at the world-renowned Nicklaus North Golf Course in Whistler, BC.

 

The 2025 GolfBC Group BC Women’s Open is a professional golf championship for both Amateurs and Professionals scheduled for June 5-7th at Nicklaus North (Whistler) and will serve as the first sanctioned Championship on Golf Canada’s She Plays Golf Championship Series.

 

For 2025, the BC Women’s Open will offer two championships.  A 54-hole Championship for professionals and elite amateurs (4.1 & less) and a 36-hole flighted event for golfers with index 4.1 to 26.0 & senior golfers.

 

54-Hole Elite Championship (June 5-7th)

  • The 54-Hole Championship will act as the first of three (3) elite Golf Championship on Golf Canada's "She Plays Golf" Championship Series.
  • The event offers a $60,000 CAD purse for a field of 60 professionals and elite amateurs (4.0 index & less).
  • The winner of the 2025 GolfBC Group BC Women’s Open earn an exemption to play in the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open on the LPGA Tour, set for the Mississaugua Golf & Country Club on Aug.20-24th, 2025
  • The top player at the end of the 2025 She Plays Golf Championship Series will also qualify for the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open (if not already qualified)
  • The 54-hole Championship will carry official WAGR (World Amateur Golf ranking) points.

 

36-Hole Flighted Championship (June 5-6th)

  • Open to Senior Amateurs (55+years) & golfers with a handicap index of 4.1 to 26.0.
  • The max field for this event is 40 players.

EVENT DETAILS

54-HOLE CHAMPIONSHIP - June 5-7th 

The 54-Hole Elite Championship is scheduled on June 5-7th and is comprised of professionals and amateurs (4.0 or less) with a full field of 60 players (and a cap of 30% international players). Invitees are selected based on their competitive record in major events and World Amateur Ranking per the below criteria. The Invitational Committee reserves the right to select one Sponsor invitation in each division (Professional and Amateur) as well as determine the final division field sizes to maximize the overall strength of the field.

 

There will be a cut after 36-holes to the top 25 players and ties.

 

BILLETING OPPORTUNITIES

Billeting opportunities are available for 54-Hole Elite Players looking to cut costs.  A number of the Nicklaus North members have kindly offered to host players for the week of the event. Most of the members live within a short drive or walking distance to the golf course.

54-HOLE CHAMPIONSHIP INCLUDES

  • $60,000 CAD tournament Purse offered with full field (see below)
  • Up to three competition rounds at Nicklaus North Whistler.
    • Following 36 holes of stroke play there will be a cut to the low 25 players and ties for the final 18 holes.
  • All competitors receive a complimentary practice round on June 4th (see details on how to book below)
  • Players wishing to play a second practice round on June 3rd may do so at a cost of $75+GST.
  • Player’s package includes welcome gifts valued at $200
  • $50 gift card per player for Food and Beverage at Nicklaus North
  • Additional $25 food and beverage gift card for those making the cut on day 3.

ENTRY FEES

  • 36-Hole Event Amateur entry Fee: $395 plus GST ($414.75).
  • 54-Hole Event Amateur entry fee: $450 plus GST ($472.50).
  • 54-Hole Professional entry fee:
    • PGA of Canada & Carded Professionals: $550 plus GST ($577.50).
    • Non-Carded Professionals: $650 plus GST ($682.50)
  • No requests for refunds will be accepted after May 28th, 2025 (unless special consideration is granted by the Tournament committee. Special consideration will be given if a player registers for the BC Women’s Open and subsequently qualifies for an LPGA or Epson Tour event on the same week as the BC Women’s Open, this player will be granted a full refund.
  • There is a $100+GST admin fee for processing any withdrawals after May 26th up until May 28th. After May 28th, any withdrawals will be subject to a full loss of entry.

 

 

International players (permanent home residence outside Canada) are welcome to apply.

Note 1: 1st place Amateur of $1,200 is the maximum allowable under Rules of Amateur Status effective Jan. 1, 2022.

Note 2: The cut will determine the number of positions paid from each of the above amateur and professional purse distributions.

 

Players in the 54-hole event are competing for a maximum purse of $60,000. Note there are scenarios based on the number of amateurs and professionals that make the cut that less than the full advertised purse is paid out. In the event more than 25 golfers in a single category make the tournament cut (i.e. more than 25 female amateurs or more than 25 female professionals), each position after 25th place is worth $50 less than the previous spot for professionals and a fixed amount of $100 for amateurs.

 

Any remaining funds following distribution of the purse shall be used at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.

 

PLEASE NOTE: No prize money will be awarded to players missing the cut.

 

OFFICIAL PRACTICE ROUND - Wednesday, June 4th

All competitors receive one complimentary practice round on Wednesday, June 4th.

ADDITIONAL PRACTICE ROUNDS AVAILABLE on June 3rd - $75+gst/player.

 

Additional practice rounds are available on Tuesday, June 3rd for a cost of $75+GST per player. 

Please book online and email the same email above to confirm you are a participant, and refer to your practice round time on June 3rd.  When you check into the golf shop on June 3rd, please pay at the pro shop.

 

 

Top Professional & Amateur Winners - will receive a keeper trophy.

 

Overall 1st Place Female Finisher in the 54-Hole Championship will receive an exemption into the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open in Mississauga, Ontario on Aug.20-24th.

 

The winner of the “She Plays Golf” Championship Series (if they have not already earned a position) will earn an exemption into the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open.
