A few updates on the Southern Arizona Swing at Ventana Canyon this May 9-10.
Though there is a two-day tournament option, just like in Sedona, you do not have to play both days. You can play either Saturday or Sunday or both. Entry into the two-day tournament requires an extra $20 collected during check-in. That will be used to payout two-day tournament prizes.
The course has now banned shotgun starts and therefore we will be using tee times. Note the new start times below. We will publish tee times a few days before the tournament.
Like many establishments during the Covid-19 outbreak, many of the amenities at the resort are closed. The onsite restaurants and bars are closed, but take-out and room service are still available. The pool is closed. Hiking trails are open.
The resort will reduce our rate by $10 if we book at least 10 rooms, $20 for 20 rooms. So, we are asking you to sign up early for this outing via Golf Genius, though you do not have to pay at the moment and indicate in the message section whether you intend to book a room. This will allow us to get a count to the resort and see if we can qualify for the reduction in rate.
Thing are very dynamic right now, so AEGA will keep you informed.

2020 AEGA Individual Low Net Summer League Championship
How it works:
•A one time $10 “buy-in”. Payments only accepted online due to COVID-19 concerns. Once you pay your scores will begin to count. •Eligibility: You must be an ACTIVE 2020 AEGA Member with established handicap to participate. If you do not yet have an established handicap, please wait to sign up until you do.
•Buy-in at any time during the Summer League season - Registration ends on July 31, 2020 at midnight.
•Play golf and submit scores on the Golf Genius mobile app each week. Only scores AFTER you pay to join the contest are eligible.
•Handicaps will be updated no less than after each round during the 2020 season due to the new World Handicap System. At some point handicaps will be updated daily once the functionality is available on Golf Genius.
•Summer League teams scores are ELIGIBLE. Should there be a conceded hole in team play, the maximum allowable score based on players index will be used for the complete score. The AEGA will identify that night’s low net score using your current AGA index.
•The Low Net score for each week will qualify that individual for the “AEGA Low Net Summer League Championship” in September.
•The “AEGA Low Net Summer League Championship” will pit all the weekly winners against each other and is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 17th (weather permitting).
•Prize fund (consisting of the total pot minus total credit card fees incurred by all players) will be paid out to 1st & 2nd place. Low Net contest begins Thursday, April 2 and ends Thursday, September 10. |
