2018 HEAD TO HEAD MATCHES

Location:  Core 5+ Golf Courses

Date:  Season long - May 2018 through September 2018

Registration Opens: 4 weeks prior to each TPGL round

TPGL Scheduling Director: Clarence Mild

FORMAT

For this competition only, the TPGL will be organized into three divisions based on handicaps.  TPGL players compete in 8 head to head matches against players in their own flight. The schedule (who plays who for a given day) is 100% objective and is based on player availability for that day and the available players’ handicap seeding within their flight. The competition is net stroke play with 1 point awarded to the low score on the front nine, 1 point awarded to the low score on the back nine, and one point awarded to the low score for the 18 holes. The top 4 players (the most points earned) from each of the 3 flights are awarded a playoff spot.

HOW ARE THE MATCHES SCHEDULED?

The schedule (who plays who for a given day) is 100% objective and is based on player availability for that day and the available players’ handicap seeding within their flight. As a general rule of thumb, each player's TPGL schedule will consist of no more than 2 head to head matches in a given month.

WHAT'S AT STAKE?

This the first road to the playoffs. The top 4 players (the most points earned) from each of the 3 flights are awarded a playoff spot.

PRIZES

The total purse is $2,880.  Gift certificates redeemable at the Arboretum Golf Pro Shop will be awarded to the winners of each match. Payouts are as follows:

  • $20 available for each match won.
  • To win the total merchandise associated with the head to head match, a player must earn at least 2 points.
  • If both players earn 1 1/2 points each, the merchandise award is split 50-50.
  • Purse is based on 36 TPGL members.

TIES

In the event a match ends in a tie, players will split the purse and in the standings page, they will each be awarded 1 1/2 points.

At the conclusion of the head to head competition, if players are tied in the standings, their "head to head" net average score will be used as the first tie-breaker. The second tie-breaker will be their "season-long" net average score.  The third tie-breaker will be their "money earned" in the four majors.

RAINOUT

In the event that a round is cancelled due to inclement weather, the match will be rescheduled.  In a rescheduled date, the opponent of a player might be different than the player that was originally scheduled on the rain-out date due to a player's availability and their seeding.
